What We Check: Classic Car Pre-Purchase Inspections

Our specially trained mobile inspectors travel to the vehicle’s location and conduct a 2-to-5-mile test drive (if permissible), accompanied by a comprehensive multi-point visual inspection. This thorough assessment covers the exterior, interior, undercarriage, and engine compartment. Our inspectors typically capture 50+ photos and video footage of the engine running.

The test drive is integral to ensuring the roadworthiness of the vehicle. Additionally, for a minor upcharge, we offer verbal statements immediately after the inspection.

When possible, we conduct a 2–5-mile test drive—an integral part of our process—to identify underlying issues. While the vehicle is parked, our inspector performs tests on brake operation, steering responsiveness, horn, lighting, gauges, and transmission function (including clutch and shift mechanisms). We respect the vehicle owner’s preference to drive during this portion, ensuring accurate results. Our inspector sits alongside the driver, providing necessary instructions to record all required test points.

Multi-point inspection covering the entire vehicle

During the test drive, we assess starter function, engine noise, operating temperature, exhaust noise, tire noise, transmission operation, alignment, vibration, suspension, rattles, and squeaks. However, if hazardous road or weather conditions arise, our Inspectors reserves the right not to participate. Ultimately, the inspector makes the final decision.
